it was two days of rollercoaster emotions. i had two goodbyes. saturday morning i said goodbye to my mom and my nanny and sunday evening i said goodbye to my soldier.
saturday started early. jesse and i woke up at 4am to finish packing and to get ready to leave for florida. we got to his parent's house around 6am. heading out around 6:30am for florida. jesse and i both slept alot during the drive. checked into the hotel around 6pm then dinner at chili's with his parents and then finally getting some alone time which we hadn't had all week. just to talk and cuddle...it was needed.
then sunday i woke up at 5:30am and he woke up at 6:45am. i told him him i had to make myself presentable for my husband. it was a joke to lighten the mood. i got into my jeans and sidewinders (jesse's platoon mascot) tshirt and he got into uniform. then we walked to cracker barrel (which was right beside the hotel) and ate breakfast. went back to the hotel and packed up. we checked out around 9:30am. well his parents and i did...jesse is still there. then we drove to the reserve center. we left before the bus did. apparently you can't be late if the bus is late. the bus finally got there. they all got in line and signed for their patches. they permanently retired the wildcat patch of the 81st infantry division. the oldest patch in the military. they know display the patch of the 200th MP company on their left shoulder. it was a nice ceremony. it was windy so it was hard to hear everything that was said but we heard enough. as soon as they were allowed to break formation the wind picked up and it looked like a tornado was coming. it was scary but it only lasted that way a couple of minutes. then we got to break for lunch. we then met up at first baptist church to have the other ceremony and dinner. the second ceremony was nice. some creepy reporter guy came up and he asked some really dumb questions. he was just silly. then for a couple of slideshows and dinner. we left florida around 7pm and got back to jesse's parent's house at 4am monday morning. thank goodness i didn't have to work monday morning.
the weekend was too short and too long all at once but i wouldn't have traded being able to attend for the world.
